K-12 Bioinformatics is a professional development project initiated at the University of Pennsylvania to educate high school teachers about data literacy, informatics and mobile learning, and partner with them to teach Philadelphia area high school students about biology and environmental issues using current technologies. In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of bioinformatics and improved computational literacy, students will investigate real-world health problems and be inspired to take action in their local communities.
